"New Female Prisoner 701: Scorpion" (新・女囚さそり 701号), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1976, B2 Size (51 cm × 73 cm) ZA850
This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1976 for the original release of New Female Prisoner 701: Scorpion (新・女囚さそり 701号 / Shin Joshu Sasori 701-gō), the fifth entry in Toei’s notorious Female Prisoner Scorpion cycle—directed by Yutaka Kohira (小平裕) and based on the “Sasori” manga by Tōru Shinohara (篠原とおる).
Film background
Released in November 1976 (Toei distribution), this “New” instalment reboots the concept with Yumi Takigawa (多岐川裕美) taking over the Scorpion role—retaining the series’ signature blend of vengeance noir, exploitation-era stylisation, and a harsh, anti-authoritarian edge.
Design
A cold turquoise/teal field frames a commanding central portrait—wide-brim black hat, black gloves, and a blade held across the frame—with a white skull thrust forward like a talisman of death. Below, a chaotic cluster of nude, writhing figures forms a surreal underworld tableau, while the jagged orange title typography (さそり) tears across the centre.
