Sale price $450.00

This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1969 for the first Japanese release of On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (女王陛下の007), the sixth film in the James Bond 007 series.

A highly desirable original Japanese Bond poster, this piece features one of the most dynamic and action-filled illustrated designs from the classic 1960s Bond era. With its explosive alpine pursuit imagery, George Lazenby as Bond, Diana Rigg as Tracy, and the enormous red Japanese title, it is a superb display piece for collectors of James Bond, 1960s cinema, and Japanese theatrical poster design.

Film background
Released in 1969, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service occupies a unique and important position within the Bond canon. It was the only Bond film to star George Lazenby as 007, and is now widely admired for its emotional depth, spectacular action sequences, and faithful treatment of Ian Fleming’s novel.

The film also features Diana Rigg as Tracy, one of the most significant women in the Bond series, and Telly Savalas as Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Directed by Peter Hunt, the film is especially remembered for its Swiss Alps setting, Piz Gloria mountain-top lair, ski chases, and unusually tragic romantic storyline.

Poster design
This Japanese B2 uses a thrilling illustrated action composition filled with movement, danger, and scale.

The central image places James Bond and Tracy skiing down a vast alpine slope, surrounded by attacking gunmen, helicopters, explosions, and cascading snow. Bond is shown in black tie on skis, holding pistols in both hands, while Tracy follows in a vivid purple ski outfit, creating one of the most memorable visual pairings in 1960s Bond poster art.

The lower portion of the image builds into a chaotic avalanche of action: armed pursuers fire across the snow, helicopters sweep overhead, and Blofeld appears in his bobsled-like escape vehicle. The composition perfectly captures the film’s high-altitude spectacle and relentless sense of pursuit.

Across the top, the Japanese copy announces:

「シリーズ最高の面白さ!シリーズ最大のスケール!007=ボンド・シリーズ第六弾!」
“The greatest excitement in the series! The largest scale in the series! The sixth entry in the 007 Bond series!”

Additional copy promotes the film’s alpine escape and European chase sequences:

「スイス・アルプスの頂上からスキーで大脱出」
“A great ski escape from the summit of the Swiss Alps.”

The main Japanese title 女王陛下の007 dominates the lower section in huge red characters, with the English title block JAMES BOND 007 ON HER MAJESTY’S SECRET SERVICE printed at lower left. The poster also lists the principal cast, including George Lazenby, Diana Rigg, Telly Savalas, Gabriele Ferzetti, and Ilse Steppat.

Collector significance
This is a particularly strong Japanese Bond poster because it combines:

Original 1969 Japanese theatrical release
Large-format B2 display size
Classic illustrated Bond action artwork
George Lazenby’s only appearance as 007
Diana Rigg as Tracy
Spectacular alpine action imagery
Bold Japanese title typography

Japanese posters for the 1960s Bond films are increasingly sought after, and On Her Majesty’s Secret Service has grown substantially in collector reputation as the film’s critical standing has risen. This example is especially appealing because the artwork captures the film’s distinctive identity: romance, danger, ski action, and tragic grandeur.
