“Only Yesterday” (おもひでぽろぽろ), Original Japanese Movie Poster 1991 First Release, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) B192

Sale price $100.00

This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1991 for the first domestic theatrical release of Only Yesterday (Japan, 1991), directed by Isao Takahata and produced by Hayao Miyazaki for Studio Ghibli. First-issue Japanese country sheets for early-’90s Ghibli features are highly collectible.

Film background
Office worker Taeko takes a summer trip from Tokyo to the Yamagata countryside, where memories of her 1960s schooldays surface in parallel with a tentative romance with Toshio. Takahata blends realistic adult drama with tender childhood recollections, set to Harumi Miyako’s rendition of “The Rose,” crafting one of Ghibli’s most nuanced coming-of-age films.

Poster design
A softly luminous classroom tableau fades into white, with adult Taeko—hat and striped top—standing hand-in-hand with her school-age self holding a notebook. The vertical tagline reads 「私はワタシと旅にでる。」 The graceful blue logotype 「おもひでぽろぽろ」 anchors the base above fine print credits and Toho/Studio Ghibli marks—classic hallmarks of an authentic 1991 first-release sheet with gentle, displayable presence.
