“Pokémon: Dialga vs. Palkia vs. Darkrai – Johto World Map” (劇場版ポケットモンスター/ディアルガVSパルキアVSダークライ ワールドポスターマップ), Original Japanese Promotional Poster 2007, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA399
This is an original Japanese B2 promotional poster printed in 2007 to support the theatrical release of Pokémon: The Rise of Darkrai (劇場版ポケットモンスター ダイヤモンド&パール ディアルガVSパルキアVSダークライ) and the 10th anniversary of the Pokémon movie series. Distributed in Japan by Toho, the piece functions as a colourful Johto regional “world map” highlighting locations and legendary Pokémon from earlier films.
Film / campaign background
By 2007 the Pokémon film franchise had built a substantial back catalogue, and The Rise of Darkrai served both as an introduction to the Sinnoh‑era legendaries Dialga and Palkia and as a celebration of the series’ first decade on the big screen. Promotional materials like this map were produced to remind audiences of past adventures while leading into the new film, tracing a path from Johto‑era movies like Spell of the Unown and Celebi: Voice of the Forest through to later entries such as Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea. The poster was aimed squarely at young fans and collectors of Pokémon world lore.
Poster design
Presented as a richly illustrated bird’s‑eye view of the Johto region and its surrounding seas, the B2 is packed with detail. Towns and landmarks—such as Goldenrod City, Ecruteak City, and the Whirl Islands—are labelled in Japanese, while iconic Pokémon like Entei, Suicune, Lugia and Celebi are scattered across the landscape in small vignettes. Along the left side, three mini poster images mark the release years of earlier movies (2000, 2001, 2002), connected by dotted lines as if forming a route across the map; a fourth 2006 image for Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea sits toward the lower right. Ash and Pikachu appear in a cartouche at the top, pointing toward Johto, while a bright red band at the bottom carries the title logo for Dialga vs. Palkia vs. Darkrai and the summer release date. The overall effect is playful and educational, ideal for framing in a game room or child’s bedroom.
