“RoboCop 2” (ロボコップ2), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1990, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm)ZA367

Sale price $100.00

This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1990 for the first Japanese theatrical release of RoboCop 2, the cyberpunk action sequel directed by Irvin Kershner and distributed in Japan by Orion/Warner. The film continued the story of Detroit’s cybernetic lawman as he confronts a new designer drug and a monstrous replacement robot.

Film background
RoboCop 2 follows Officer Alex Murphy as he faces a powerful narcotic called Nuke and the ruthless cult‑like leader Cain, whose brain is eventually transplanted into a prototype RoboCop successor. The sequel leans into black comedy and social satire, depicting a collapsing Detroit dominated by corporate greed, media sensationalism and militarised policing. While more chaotic than the original, it has become a cult favourite for its ambitious effects and brutal action.

Poster design
The Japanese B2 offers a striking, minimalist composition: a massive close‑up of RoboCop’s gleaming helmet fills almost the entire sheet, reflecting robotic arms and lab silhouettes in its mirrored surface. His jaw is set in a stern, almost human frown, with a rich purple gradient background suggesting a nocturnal cityscape. At the bottom, the chunky red and yellow Japanese title 「ロボコップ2」 sits above the small English logo “RoboCop 2,” all framed by a clean white border. It’s an iconic image that emphasises the character’s cold, machine‑like presence.
