“The Company of Wolves” (狼の血族), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1985, B1 Size (71 × 103 cm)

Sale price $200.00

This is an original Japanese B1 poster printed in 1985 for the first theatrical release of The Company of Wolves—Neil Jordan’s gothic fairy-tale horror co-written with Angela Carter from her “Bloody Chamber” stories, starring Sarah Patterson, Angela Lansbury, David Warner, and Stephen Rea.

Film background

A dreamlike re-telling of Little Red Riding Hood, the film braids puberty, desire, and cautionary folklore into a feverish parable of transformation. Celebrated for its imaginative production design and bravura metamorphosis set-pieces, it won the Special Jury Prize at the 1985 Avoriaz Fantastic Film Festival and helped launch Jordan’s international career.

Poster design

A sumptuous painted tableau shows Rosaleen crowned with daisies beside a watchful grey wolf, lit against a velvety black ground. The top carries the sly warning, 「濃い眉をした男には気をおつけ。それは狼男なのだから」 (“Beware men with thick eyebrows—they are werewolves”), with further release copy above the credits. The scarlet logotype 「狼の血族」 surges across the base over the English subtitle THE COMPANY OF WOLVES, accompanied by distribution marks including the Herald logo—an evocative country sheet unique to the Japanese campaign.
