This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1954 for the first release of The French Line.
This almost 5′ tall STB poster features fantastic artwork. The tatekan STB format had much lower print numbers compared to regular Japanese B2s. They are very rare, especially for more popular film titles, and are highly sought after by collectors today.
If you have been waiting for a great image of the beautiful Jane Russell on a poster, wait no more! This is the first time we have this poster in for sale and it has a spectacular image. Russell is a wealthy Texas oil baroness whose luck runs short when it comes to love. The object of affection for many a gold digger, Russell creates a ruse while on voyage to France to find a man who's more interested in her than her millions. Bikini clad, she performs a shake-and-shimmy number that had censors in an uproar, and the film was initially denied a Production Code Seal. Producer Howard Hughes eventually got the seal, and laughingly acknowledged "about a million dollars worth of free publicity" for all the hubbub.
