Released in 2001 (Japan: 2002), The Fellowship of the Ring launched one of cinema’s most influential modern trilogies—an ambitious, practical-effects-and-location-driven epic that redefined what blockbuster fantasy could look and feel like. The story follows Frodo Baggins as he inherits the One Ring and sets out from the Shire with the Fellowship on a mission that will decide the fate of Middle-earth.
