"Mobile Suit Gundam II: Soldiers of Sorrow", Original First-Release Japanese Movie Poster 1981, Landscape, B3 Size (36 x 51cm) M142

Sale price $180.00

This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1981 for the theatrical release of Mobile Suit Gundam II: Soldiers of Sorrow (Japanese: 機動戦士ガンダムII 哀・戦士篇) — the second compilation film that distilled episodes 16-30 of the landmark 1979 TV series into a feature-length movie.

Rare landscape-format B3 sheet showcasing a dramatic line-up of Zeon amphibious mobile suits (Z’Gok, Gogg, Acguy) rising from the sea, with the RX-78 Gundam’s portrait looming in star-lit space. This panoramic artwork appears only on advance material for the 1981 film and is much scarcer than the standard portrait B2 style.

Directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino and animated by Sunrise, the Gundam movie trilogy reignited the franchise, paving the way for Gunpla mania and the real-robot boom that followed. Soldiers of Sorrow deepens the tragedy of the One-Year War, chronicling Amuro Ray’s battles against Char Aznable’s new “tri-Dom” team and Lalah Sune’s fateful debut.

It is over 43 years old!
