"Rambo - First Blood", Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1982, B2 Size (51 x 73cm) O770
This is an original Japanese B2 movie poster printed in 1982 for the first Japanese theatrical release of First Blood (known in Japan as ランボー), a United States action-thriller directed by Ted Kotcheff, starring Sylvester Stallone as John Rambo, with Richard Crenna, Brian Dennehy, and David Caruso.
Film background
Released in 1982, First Blood introduced one of cinema’s most enduring action characters—but the film itself is darker and more psychological than the later sequels. A traumatised Vietnam veteran is pushed into a brutal manhunt after being harassed by small-town law enforcement, turning the story into a tense survival chase and a pointed look at alienation, authority, and post-war trauma. It became a major hit and launched the Rambo franchise.
Poster design
A peak early-’80s Japanese action one-sheet that sells scale and momentum: Rambo charges straight at the viewer on a motorbike, framed by helicopters, police cars, fire, and highway chaos—while the huge, dimensional red 「ランボー」 title explodes across the lower half like weaponised typography. The supporting cast montage and the line of police vehicles along the base complete the “all-out pursuit” feel, giving the poster tremendous wall impact and unmistakable vintage Japanese action design energy.
