This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster produced for the first Japanese theatrical release of Bruce Weber’s documentary A Letter to True (トゥルーへの手紙). This Japanese release opened in Japan on 1 October 2005.
Directed and written by celebrated photographer/filmmaker Bruce Weber, the film is framed as a letter to his golden retriever True, shaped by the post-9/11 world and Weber’s reflections on love, fear, and peace. It blends intimate personal imagery with historical footage and cultural memory, and features narration by Julie Christie and Marianne Faithfull.
Poster design
A beautifully minimalist, typography-led design: a clean off-white field dominated by bold letterpress-style type (“A LETTER TO TRUE”), anchored by a charming lineup of four dogs wearing hand-lettered placards reading “DOGS for PEACE”, with the film’s tagline DOGS for PEACE printed across the lower centre. A superb, modern, gallery-ready composition—both playful and quietly powerful.
