This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster for the 1978 Japanese release of Death of a Corrupt Man, originally titled Mort d’un pourri. First released in France in 1977, the political thriller was marketed in Japan by Nippon Herald Films as チェイサー (Chaser). Its striking portrait composition places Alain Delon’s screen presence at the heart of the campaign.

Directed by Georges Lautner, the film stars Alain Delon and Ornella Muti, alongside Maurice Ronet, Michel Aumont, Klaus Kinski, Mireille Darc, and Stéphane Audran. Adapted from the novel by Raf Vallet, it follows businessman Xavier Maréchal as his loyalty to a politician friend draws him into a dangerous network of blackmail, bribery, and murder. Incriminating documents become the focus of a pursuit through the overlapping worlds of business and political power.

Printed on one B2 sheet, the design is dominated by an enormous close-up of Delon looking towards the right. Warm copper and reddish tones model his face against a dark background, while cooler highlights and a dense montage of Parisian rooftops introduce an uneasy urban atmosphere. The tightly cropped portrait gives the composition an intense, inward-looking quality.

Below, a smaller image of Ornella Muti in a belted trench coat stands beside handwritten financial records and a cheque, connecting the characters directly to the evidence driving the story. These restrained supporting elements allow Delon’s face to remain the overwhelming visual focus.

The Japanese title 「チェイサー」 stretches across the lower-right section in bold pink lettering. The original French title appears in white along the bottom, while a compact gold-coloured cast list occupies the lower left. The production credits also identify Delon as producer, with Philippe Sarde’s music and Stan Getz’s saxophone performance noted along the foot.

The prominent white tagline reads:
