This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1969 for Aido (愛奴), directed by Susumu Hani (羽仁進) and released in Japan by Shochiku. The Japanese theatrical release is commonly listed as 22 May 1969.
A striking, boundary-pushing late-1960s Japanese drama, Aido became one of Hani’s most internationally discussed narrative features and was entered into the 19th Berlin International Film Festival.
Poster design
This is an extraordinary, design-led Japanese B2 with truly unique period artwork—psychedelic, sensual, and surreal, anchored by the large “AIDO” lettering and the film’s title 愛奴 in bold calligraphy. The illustration bears the artist’s in-image signature “’69 S. HARA” (as pictured), adding real historical character and making this sheet especially desirable for collectors of late-1960s Japanese graphic design and avant-garde cinema posters.
