“Beetlejuice” (ビートルジュース), Original Japanese Movie Poster 1988, Warner Bros. First Release, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) O150

Sale price $100.00

This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1988 for the first domestic theatrical release of Beetlejuice (ビートルジュース), directed by Tim Burton and released in Japan by Warner Bros. First-issue Japanese posters for Burton’s breakout horror-comedy—starring Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, and Jeffrey Jones—are highly collectible.

Film background
Newly deceased couple Adam and Barbara Maitland (Baldwin, Davis) enlist a raucous “bio-exorcist,” Beetlejuice (Keaton), to scare away the living occupants of their beloved home—only to collide with goth teen Lydia Deetz (Ryder) and a parade of macabre gags. A box-office hit and Oscar winner for Makeup, the film launched Burton’s signature blend of gothic whimsy and off-kilter comedy.

Poster design
An iconic country sheet echoing the U.S. campaign: Beetlejuice, in his black-and-white striped suit, perches atop the Maitlands’ New England house, flanked by a bridal-gowned ghost and a headless tuxedo figure; the Deetz family gazes up from the lawn below. The twilight gradient sky, crescent moon, and miniature house details deliver rich wall presence. The bold yellow Japanese logotype 「ビートルジュース」 crowns the composition, with English titling and full credit block along the base. Distributor marks and the Eirin rating appear at the footer—classic hallmarks of a first-release sheet.
