“Blade Runner: The Director’s Cut”, Original Japanese Re-Release Movie Poster 1992, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) C174

Sale price $200.00

This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1992 for the Japanese re-release of Blade Runner: The Director’s Cut—Ridley Scott’s definitive 1992 version of his landmark 1982 sci-fi noir, starring Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard. Issued during the Director’s Cut campaign, this Japanese B2 is a superb period piece from the moment Blade Runner was reintroduced to audiences as the director-led vision that helped define modern dystopian cinema.

Film background
Set in rain-soaked Los Angeles, 2019, Blade Runner follows Deckard, a former police “blade runner” tasked with tracking down rogue bio-engineered “replicants.” Part detective story, part philosophical future-shock, the film’s influence runs through cyberpunk, fashion, architecture, graphic design, and decades of sci-fi filmmaking. The 1992 Director’s Cut cemented Blade Runner’s status as a masterpiece—leaner, more ambiguous, and closer to the film’s intended tone.

Poster design
Iconic art work by JOHN ALVIN. This Japanese B2 uses striking Director’s Cut key art: a moody, high-contrast montage anchored by Deckard’s intense portrait, with Rachael and futuristic city imagery layered into a neon-lit skyline. The bold Japanese header text announces the ディレクターズカット (Director’s Cut) presentation, while the overall layout leans into the film’s signature mix of noir menace and futuristic glamour—clean, dramatic, and instantly recognisable to collectors.
