This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1968 for the first release of Curse of the Blood.
Curse of the Blood (Japanese title: 怪談残酷物語, Kaidan Zankoku Monogatari) is a 1968 Japanese jidaigeki-horror (kaidan) film directed by Kazuo Hase (長谷和夫) and produced by Shochiku. Loosely adapted from Renzaburō Shibata’s novella Kaidan Kasanegafuchi, it stars Masakazu Tamura, Yūsuke Kawazu, Koeda Kawaguchi, and Nobuo Kaneko.
Set in the late Edo period, the story follows the prosperous Fukaya samurai household. When family patriarch Shinzaemon murders his creditor, Dr Yasukawa, to erase a crushing debt, he unwittingly unleashes a blood-soaked curse. One by one, the Fukaya heirs confront terrifying apparitions, disfigurement, and madness as the vengeful spirit exacts brutal retribution. With lightning-lit marshes, eerie shamisen riffs, and painterly gore, the film mixes period-piece drama with supernatural dread—earning cult status under its alternate export title Cruel Ghost Legend.
