An original Japanese B2 theatrical poster for the 1959 Japanese release of Detective Denshichi: The Ghost Courier, directed by Kinya Sakai and starring Kokichi Takada, alongside Michiko Saga and Junzaburo Ban. Distributed by Shochiku, the film opened in Japan on 2 August 1959.

The eleventh entry in the Denshichi Torimonocho series follows the Edo-period detective as he investigates a mysterious killer known as the Ghost Courier. Threatening messages, a sinister mask, and intrigue surrounding the shogun’s household provide the setting for this colourful period mystery.

The poster’s striking composition is dominated by an enormous horned, white-haired mask, its pale face, yellow eyes, and red mouth looming over the cast. The image creates an immediate atmosphere of menace and gives the design a strong theatrical presence.

Kokichi Takada occupies the centre foreground in a light grey kimono, extending his arms protectively before two alarmed companions. His composed expression contrasts with the distorted features of the masked figure above.

Oversized red Japanese title lettering, outlined in white, fills the lower portion of the sheet. The series title appears in yellow against a black panel immediately above, while vertical red promotional copy runs along the right edge.

The Shochiku Grand Scope emblem and 総天然色 colour designation occupy the upper left, completing a distinctive example of late-1950s Japanese widescreen film advertising.

The reverse retains a bold handwritten “ハ 105” notation, likely denoting the location where this poster was displayed.
