“The Peacemaker” (ピースメーカー), Original Japanese First-Release Movie Poster 1998, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) — T171
This is an original Japanese B2 poster produced for the 1998 Japanese theatrical release of The Peacemaker, Mimi Leder’s action thriller starring George Clooney and Nicole Kidman. The first feature film released by DreamWorks Pictures, it marked the new studio’s arrival with an international story of stolen nuclear weapons and a desperate race against time.
Film background
Originally released in the United States in 1997, the film pairs Clooney’s military intelligence officer, Thomas Devoe, with Kidman’s nuclear specialist, Dr Julia Kelly. Investigating a suspicious nuclear explosion in Russia, they uncover a theft that leads them across Europe and towards a threatened attack in New York.
Directed by Mimi Leder, with music by Hans Zimmer, the film combines political intrigue with pursuit sequences and the friction between its two contrasting leads.
Poster design
A bold orange-and-blue photographic montage places Clooney and Kidman running directly towards the viewer. The warm central image contrasts sharply with the dark blue panels above and below, where trains, military figures, helicopters and additional action scenes suggest the scale of the unfolding crisis.
Large gold lettering announces “CLOONEY / KIDMAN”, while the English title sits above the substantial white Japanese 「ピースメーカー」 logo. The prominent line 「ドリームワークス第1回作品」 identifies the film as DreamWorks’ first feature release, preserving a distinctive detail of its original marketing campaign.
Condition
Excellent. Light handling creases and gentle paper undulations are visible, particularly on the reverse, with minor edge wear. The strong orange and blue colours give the poster excellent display impact. Please review the photos—they show the exact poster for sale.
