Dr. Slump & Arale-chan: N-cha! Clear Skies Over Penguin Village (Japanese title: Dr.スランプ アラレちゃん んちゃ!ペンギン村はハレのち晴れ) is a 42-minute theatrical anime directed by Yukio Kaizawa and produced by Toei Animation. The movie premiered in Japan on 6 March 1993 during Toei’s Spring Anime Fair, adding a brand-new adventure to Akira Toriyama’s beloved gag-manga universe.
Plot overview
Penguin Village is turned upside-down when a pint-sized dinosaur-monster named Dodongadon appears—but even Arale’s rocket-punch makes quick work of him. Humiliated, Dodongadon summons his gigantic mother, Mamangadon, whose destructive strength threatens to flatten the hapless town. With Senbei Norimaki’s wild inventions misfiring and Arale’s boundless energy put to the test, the villagers rally for the most over-the-top showdown yet. Expect slapstick mayhem, Toriyama-style puns, and cameos from the entire eccentric cast.
Bursting with bright ’90s colour palettes, super-deformed character art, and a playful synth-pop score, this short film captures the anarchic spirit that made Dr. Slump a cornerstone of shōnen comedy long before Dragon Ball conquered the world.
