“Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance” (ヱヴァンゲリヲン新劇場版:破), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 2009, Rare, B1 Size (71 × 103 cm)

Sale price $500.00

This is an original Japanese B1 poster printed in 2009 for the first theatrical release of Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance—the second film in Hideaki Anno’s Rebuild of Evangelion project, directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki, Masayuki, and Mahiro Maeda with Anno as chief director and screenwriter.

This poster is extremely hard to find in a B1 size!

Film background

A bold reimagining of the 1995 TV phenomenon, 2.0 pivots into new narrative territory: Asuka is reconceived as Shikinami, Mari Makinami Illustrious enters the saga, and set-pieces—Unit-02’s sorties, the Bardiel incident—push the series toward an original timeline that diverges from the show while deepening its themes of identity, connection, and choice.

Poster design

The B1 is a minimalist, atmospheric “crimson-sky” sheet. A vertical white title 「ヱヴァンゲリヲン新劇場版:破」 bisects the composition, while dense in-world callouts (“EVANGELION PROVISIONAL UNIT-05,” “EVANGELION PRODUCTION MODEL-02,” etc.) drift across the right side like mission readouts. At upper right sits Asuka’s line 「そっか。私、笑えるんだ」, with additional voice lines from Shinji and Mari near the base. Bottom center carries the chalk-script logo EVANGELION:2.0 YOU CAN (NOT) ADVANCE., the release line 「2009年6月27日公開」, and the site credit evangelion.co.jp. The upper left corner bears the production notice ©カラー NOT FOR SALE, confirming this as a theatrical promotional issue.
