“The Big Boss” / “Fist of Fury” (ドラゴン危機一発 / ドラゴン怒りの鉄拳), Original Japanese Re-Release Movie Poster Set 1983, Bruce Lee, Two B2 Posters (c. 51 × 73 cm each) — U38

This is a set of two original Japanese B2 theatrical posters for the 1983 double-feature revival of The Big Boss and Fist of Fury. Both carry the matching “RETURN OF THE DRAGON” campaign branding, combining bold photographs of Bruce Lee with contrasting backgrounds and vivid promotional lettering. The revival brought these two Golden Harvest films back to Japanese cinemas a decade after Lee’s death.

Directed by Lo Wei, the films established two of Lee’s defining screen roles. In The Big Boss (1971), a young factory worker confronts a criminal operation concealed within an ice factory. Fist of Fury (1972) follows Chen Zhen as he investigates his martial arts master’s death and pursues vengeance in early twentieth-century Shanghai. Together, they showcase Lee’s combination of physical precision, screen presence and emotional intensity.

The Big Boss poster features a large monochrome photograph of Lee wearing a white shirt and dark trousers, with his clenched fist thrust towards the viewer. The dark background gives his figure a sculptural presence, while oversized “BRUCE LEE” lettering and the red dragon emblem occupy the upper-right section. A vivid blue brushstroke carries the striking Japanese tagline:

「南無阿弥陀仏の、暇もない。」
“No time even to say a prayer to Buddha.”

The Fist of Fury poster provides a dramatic companion. Against a pale background, a shirtless Lee appears mid-roar, his fists clenched and muscles taut. Black “BRUCE LEE” lettering anchors the upper-left corner, while a hot-pink diagonal brushstroke cuts towards his head. Its tagline reads:

「脳が沸騰してしまう。」
“Your brain will boil over.”

Red colouring at the foot of each composition, matching campaign emblems and the contrasting blue and pink slogans unite the designs. Presented together, they make an especially striking display for collectors of Bruce Lee, Golden Harvest, Hong Kong martial arts cinema and Japanese film poster design.
