"Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai", Original Japanese First-Release Movie Poster 1999, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) I250
This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1999 for Jim Jarmusch’s neo-noir fable Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai, starring Forest Whitaker with a score by RZA (Wu-Tang Clan). A cult classic of turn-of-the-millennium cinema, the film marries East-meets-West philosophy (the Hagakure) with New Jersey mafia deadpan and Jarmusch’s laconic, soulful cool.
Design
A stark, high-impact layout: a blurred multi-exposure of Ghost Dog practicing with a katana surges across the white field, the motion streaks evoking both Zen focus and street dynamism. A red brush slash—half blood, half calligraphy—cuts the base beneath the hand-lettered English title GHOST DOG and subtitle THE WAY OF THE SAMURAI. Along the head, a small strip of film stills and the kamon-like Japanese logo set the tone for this East/West hybrid.
