An original Japanese B1 theatrical poster for the 1999 Japanese release of Godzilla 2000: Millennium, directed by Takao Okawara, with special effects by Kenji Suzuki. Distributed by Toho, the film opened in Japanese cinemas on 11 December 1999, as advertised along the bottom of this poster.

The film launched Godzilla’s Millennium series, introducing a redesigned incarnation of the monster with a sharply defined profile and enormous, jagged dorsal plates. Its story pits Godzilla against an extraterrestrial threat that develops into Orga, beginning a new chapter in the franchise’s history.

The design places Godzilla at its centre in a towering profile, jaws open and claws extended. A fiery red-orange glow surrounds the monster’s dark, heavily textured body, separating its outline from the black background.

A brilliant turquoise fissure crosses the torso, surrounded by an intense white-yellow flare. This striking graphic detail contrasts with the surrounding reds and blacks, drawing the eye into the centre of the composition. Godzilla’s luminous eye and sharply silhouetted dorsal plates reinforce the threatening atmosphere.

Across the top, bold white lettering against red announces “Witness it! Godzilla’s new century.” Smaller gold promotional copy invokes the series’ cumulative audience of 90 million admissions and promises the beginning of a new legend.

The lower section is anchored by the enormous ゴジラ2000 title, combining orange-red lettering with metallic effects and blue accents. The ミレニアム subtitle, production credits, Toho branding, and December release announcement complete the original Japanese presentation.

At approximately one metre tall, the B1 format gives this dramatic composition considerable presence. An impressive piece for collectors of Godzilla, Toho kaiju cinema, and original Japanese B1 posters.

Condition: Excellent. The central artwork retains strong colour and excellent overall display appeal.
