"Le Mans" (栄光のル・マン), Original Japanese Movie Poster 1971, B3 Nakazuri Size (31 × 51 cm) Steve McQueen / Porsche 917K L216
"Racing is life. Everything that happens before or after is just waiting."
This is an original Japanese B3 nakazuri poster printed in 1971 for the release of Le Mans, the legendary racing film starring Steve McQueen.
The poster design is among the most striking produced for the title. It features McQueen in racing attire, set against the iconic Gulf-liveried Porsche 917K, the car most closely associated with both the film and McQueen himself. The bold red Japanese title 「栄光のル・マン」 anchors the composition, while the motion blur of the speeding car evokes the drama of the track. This B3 nakazuri format (issued for display in trains, smaller cinema lobbies and shops) is exceptionally scarce, making it one of the most beautiful surviving posters for Le Mans.
Le Mans (1971), directed by Lee H. Katzin, is one of the most famous motor racing films ever made. Steve McQueen stars as driver Michael Delaney, competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. With its minimal dialogue, realistic race footage, and authentic atmosphere, the film has become a cult classic among motorsport fans. Much of the racing action was shot during the actual 1970 Le Mans race, capturing the raw speed and intensity of endurance competition.
