“Limelight” (ライムライト), Original Re-Release Japanese Movie Poster 1973 (film 1952), B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA1061

Sale price $110.00

This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1973 for the Japanese re-release of Limelight (ライムライト), Charlie Chaplin’s deeply moving late-career masterpiece.

Written, directed by, produced by, and starring Charlie Chaplin, Limelight is one of cinema’s great elegies for performance and aging—following a washed-up music-hall clown who tries to save a young dancer from despair, and in doing so confronts his own fading fame. It’s widely cherished for its tenderness, melancholic humour, and Chaplin’s unmistakable humanity—and also features the legendary Buster Keaton in an unforgettable on-screen moment with Chaplin.

Poster design
A gorgeous, prestige Japanese design with a strong “arthouse re-release” feel: Chaplin dominates the composition, framed by a dramatic close-up portrait and a montage of key faces and scenes. The bold red katakana title ライムライト anchors the lower half, while the sheet carries the TOWA mark and a re-release anniversary emblem at the top—giving it that unmistakable early-1970s Japanese revival-cinema aesthetic. Elegant, nostalgic, and extremely displayable once framed.

It is over 53 years old!
