"Nanami: The Inferno of First Love", Original Japanese First-Release Movie Poster 1968, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) O332
This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1968 for Susumu Hani’s boundary-pushing youth drama Nanami: The Inferno of First Love. A landmark of late-1960s Japanese New Wave, the film follows two adolescent outsiders in Tokyo as they stumble through work, sex, and identity against a documentary-tinged cityscape—blending tenderness with social provocation.
Design
Poster art by the celebrated graphic artist Aquirax Uno (Akira Uno). Uno’s sensuous, surreal collage/illustration style—hallmark of Tokyo’s avant-garde theatre and art scenes—casts the lovers in a dreamlike register, fusing fashion-plate elegance with erotic anxiety. The composition’s bold typography and floating cut-outs typify Uno’s late-60s visual language and make this sheet one of the signature designs from Japan’s New Wave era.
