“The World of Hayao Miyazaki & Isao Takahata” (宮崎駿×高畑勲の世界), Anime Theater Ikebukuro 1st Anniversary Japanese Event Poster 1990, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA800
This is an original Japanese B2 event poster produced for the 1st anniversary programme at Anime Theater Ikebukuro (アニメシアター テアトル池袋), celebrating the work of Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata. The poster is dated 1990 and advertises the screening run 2/17 (Sat) – 3/16 (Fri), 1990, making it a superb piece of late-Showa anime history—part cinema schedule, part commemorative graphic, and a rare, display-ready collectible from the era when Miyazaki/Takahata’s films were becoming modern classics in real time.
Poster design
A fantastic, character-packed composition that functions as a mini “Miyazaki & Takahata universe” collage. At centre stands a red-haired heroine in a blue dress (evoking Nausicaä), surrounded by instantly recognisable figures: Kiki on her broom with Jiji, Totoro with the umbrella, Sheeta & Pazu in flight (Laputa), Lupin III, and Panda Kopanda—all set against a decorative anniversary border and bold header typography reading 「宮崎駿×高畑勲の世界」. The bottom panel is a printed programme schedule, listing dates and titles screened during the anniversary run (including classics such as Castle of Cagliostro, My Neighbour Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Panda Kopanda, and more), making this as historically interesting as it is visually irresistible.
