Sale price $125.00

This is an original Japanese B2 licensed Movic poster featuring Rei Ayanami from Neon Genesis Evangelion. Dating approximately to 1996–97, it belongs to the original television series’ era and presents one of its most recognisable characters in a striking double portrait.

Created for the Japanese anime merchandise market, the poster carries the Movic manufacturer’s logo, catalogue code 0796-B, printed copyright credits and a silver NAS licensing sticker along its lower border.

Hideaki Anno’s Neon Genesis Evangelion combines spectacular mecha action with an increasingly intimate exploration of identity, loneliness and human relationships. Rei, the enigmatic pilot of Evangelion Unit-00, occupies a central place in that world. Her reserved expression, pale blue hair and red eyes make her immediately recognisable, even in a composition stripped of the series’ towering machines.

The artwork brings together Rei’s school uniform and white plugsuit, presenting two aspects of the same character. A large portrait fills the left side: Rei faces the viewer in her teal school uniform, white blouse and red bow, with one hand raised beside her shoulder.

Thick black bars divide this portrait into a window-like arrangement. Their strong geometry contrasts with the delicate linework of her face and clothing, giving the composition a quiet, enclosed atmosphere.

On the right, a full-length Rei stands with her back partly turned, looking over her shoulder. Her white plugsuit, marked “00”, stands out sharply against the black background. The smaller figure overlaps the larger portrait, connecting the two images without interrupting their distinct moods.

The restrained palette is particularly effective: warm peach, teal, lavender-blue and white contrast with broad areas of black, while small red accents draw attention to Rei’s eyes and clothing. The English title “NEON GENESIS EVANGELION” appears discreetly in the upper-right corner, allowing the illustration to dominate.

An atmospheric character design with strong display appeal, particularly suited to collectors of Rei Ayanami, original Evangelion merchandise and Japanese anime illustration.

Condition: Excellent.

The poster retains strong colour and clear illustrated detail. There are scattered handling creases and surface scuffs, visible against the darker areas.
