“Public Enemy No.1” (ジャック・メスリーヌ), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 2009 (film ©2008), Part 2 ルージュ編, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) O808
This is an original Japanese poster printed in 2009 for the first Japanese theatrical release of Jacques Mesrine: Public Enemy No.1 – Part 2 (Rouge), the concluding chapter of the two-part French crime epic starring Vincent Cassel.
Part 2 (ルージュ編 / “Rouge”) continues Mesrine’s story as his fame, audacity, and violence escalate—pushing him into full-blown national notoriety and making him a symbol of rebellion, fear, and tabloid obsession in France. The Japanese tagline beneath the title captures the myth-making tone:
「フランスで社会の敵No.1と呼ばれた男」
(“The man who was called France’s Public Enemy No.1.”)
The dramatic top line is specific and historically grounded, referring to the final confrontation:
「1979年1月2日。40人の警官、21発の銃弾——男の美学、完結。」
(“January 2, 1979. 40 police officers, 21 bullets—his code of aesthetics concludes.”)
The poster also notes the film’s awards recognition (including Vincent Cassel’s major honours) and Tokyo International Film Festival recognition, as indicated in the laurel text at left.
Poster design
A striking, high-drama composition built around a large, painterly profile portrait of Vincent Cassel against a splattered, textured background, with a vivid secondary image of a red-haired woman at right (a key figure in this second chapter). The Japanese title ジャック・メスリーヌ appears in bold brush-style lettering, with Part 2 ルージュ編 stamped in red, and the lower third is anchored by the huge English title PUBLIC ENEMY NO.1 over chain-link fencing—an aggressive, modern design that frames exceptionally well.
It is over 16 years old!
This poster is in excellent condition. Please refer to the imagery (front and back) as this is the exact poster that is for sale.
