“Spider-Man” (スパイダーマン), Original Japanese First-Release Movie Poster 2002, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) — T135
This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 2002 for the first theatrical release of Spider-Man, Sam Raimi’s blockbuster adaptation starring Tobey Maguire, Willem Dafoe and Kirsten Dunst. Its dramatic skyscraper composition and glowing orange palette capture the excitement of Spider-Man’s arrival as a major Hollywood film franchise.
Film background
Based on the Marvel character created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, the film follows Peter Parker, a shy student whose life changes after a genetically engineered spider gives him extraordinary abilities. As he learns to balance his new powers with personal responsibility, he faces the dangerous Green Goblin while struggling to express his feelings for Mary Jane Watson.
Raimi combines comic-book spectacle with romance, humour and a sincere emotional core. Maguire’s vulnerable Peter Parker and Dafoe’s unsettling performance as Norman Osborn helped make the film a defining superhero adventure of the early 2000s.
Poster design
Spider-Man clings to the reflective glass of a skyscraper, his outstretched hand looming towards the viewer while the city streets fall away far below. The sharply angled perspective creates a powerful sense of height, with reflections repeating the intricate web pattern of his costume.
Rich gold, amber and red tones give the image exceptional warmth and visual impact. Three small portraits of the leading cast sit beneath the Japanese tagline 「運命を受け入れろ。」—“Accept your destiny.” The metallic Japanese title stretches across the lower section, above the production credits and May release announcement.
