“Damnation Alley” (世界が燃えつきる日), Original Japanese First-Release Movie Poster 1978, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA190 — Artwork by Seito
This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1978 for 20th Century Fox’s post-apocalyptic road epic Damnation Alley (1977), starring Jan-Michael Vincent, George Peppard, and Dominique Sanda. Famous for its custom tri-axle survival vehicle—the Landmaster—and Fox’s exhibition format SOUND 360, the film follows a small band of survivors driving across a nuked America through storms, mutants, and wastelands in search of a safe haven.
Design
Striking painted artwork by Seito (signature visible at lower center): a hellish panorama erupts under a blackened sun—mushroom cloud rising at left, rainbow auroras and lightning cleaving the sky, tidal waves swallowing cities—while the Landmaster barrels out of the inferno toward the viewer. Burning orange palettes frame the heroic portraits of the cast, with the massive kanji title 「世界が燃えつきる日」 blazing across the foot. The SOUND 360 masthead crowns the top, tying the composition to Fox’s immersive audio push for the release.
