"Dušan Makavejev Film Collection", Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1994, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) N93

Sale price $100.00

This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1994 for the Dušan Makavejev Film Collection retrospective, celebrating the work of the influential Serbian filmmaker.

Makavejev was acclaimed for his bold, satirical, and politically charged films that pushed boundaries in both content and style, often blending fiction and documentary, eroticism and politics, and surrealism with biting social critique. The collection presented in this Japanese screening series included rare and early works that were, in many cases, difficult to see outside of film archives. Titles highlighted in the program included Manifesto (1988), The Coca-Cola Kid (1985), Montenegro (1981), Sweet Movie (1974), WR: Mysteries of the Organism (1971), Innocence Unprotected (1968), Love Affair, or the Case of the Missing Switchboard Operator (1967), and Man is Not a Bird (1965).

This Japanese B2-size poster was created exclusively for the event’s domestic screenings. The psychedelic design features vivid magenta and cyan halftone imagery from Makavejev’s films, overlaid with bold vertical Japanese typography and anchored by a striking photograph of the director holding a kangaroo—an image reflecting his offbeat sense of humour and unconventional approach to cinema.

This poster is in excellent condition. Please refer to the imagery provided (both front and back) as this is the exact poster that is for sale.
