This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1973 for the first release of Sherlock Jr.

This stunning 1973 Japanese B2 poster was issued for the theatrical re-release of Buster Keaton’s silent-era masterpiece, Sherlock Jr. — regarded as one of the greatest comedies and technical achievements of early cinema. Distributed in Japan nearly 50 years after its original release, this version introduced Keaton’s genius to a new generation of fans.

The poster features a vibrant, pop-art collage style, combining stills from the film and graphic elements typical of Japan's 1970s cinema revival era. The title translation, “バスター・キートンの探偵学入門” (Buster Keaton’s Introduction to Detective Studies), humorously plays on the film’s premise — a projectionist who dreams of becoming a great detective and literally steps into the movie screen.
