Sale price $100.00

This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1975 for the first theatrical release of The Hindenburg in Japan.

Directed by Robert Wise, The Hindenburg is a historical disaster drama based on the true story of the 1937 destruction of the German passenger airship LZ 129 Hindenburg. The film stars George C. Scott, Anne Bancroft, William Atherton, and Roy Thinnes, and follows a fictionalized version of events leading up to the airship’s infamous fiery crash in Lakehurst, New Jersey. The screenplay weaves real and imagined characters into a suspenseful plot that suggests sabotage.

The film was praised for its meticulous art direction and model work, winning the Academy Award® for Best Visual Effects and Special Achievement Award for Sound Effects. Its slow-burning thriller format—layered with espionage, romance, and conspiracy—makes it one of the most ambitious disaster films of its era.

The Japanese poster features dramatic painted artwork of the doomed zeppelin consumed by flames as figures flee across the airfield. Portraits of the ensemble cast line the right-hand side, heightening the tension and stakes. A banner across the top reads:

“謎を秘めたヒンデンブルグ大爆発の真相を驚異のスケールで再現!!”
“The mystery of the Hindenburg explosion recreated on an epic scale!!”

It is over 49 years old!
