“The Score” (スコア), Original Japanese First-Release Movie Poster 2001, B2 Size (51.5 × 72.8 cm) — J221

This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 2001 for the first Japanese release of The Score, directed by Frank Oz and starring Robert De Niro, Edward Norton and Marlon Brando. Distributed by Nippon Herald Films, the film opened in Japan on 22 September 2001.

Set in Montreal, this carefully plotted heist thriller follows veteran safecracker Nick Wells, played by De Niro, as he prepares to leave crime behind. His associate Max, played by Brando, persuades him to consider one final job: stealing a priceless sceptre from a heavily protected customs building. The plan requires Nick to work with Norton’s ambitious young thief, introducing an unpredictable partner into a career built on caution and independence.

The pairing of De Niro, Norton and Brando gives the film particular appeal, bringing together three generations of acclaimed screen actors. Angela Bassett also stars as Nick’s partner, Diane. The film marked Brando’s final on-screen film performance.

The Japanese poster places its celebrated cast at the centre of an elaborate montage. De Niro speaks urgently into a mobile phone, Norton aims a pistol across the composition, and Brando looks upwards beneath the brim of a fedora. Their overlapping portraits fill the left side, balanced by an enormous shadowed profile on the right.

Against a glowing orange-and-gold background, a small figure descends on a rope, introducing the physical danger of the robbery. Below, a black-gloved hand holds a thick fan of American banknotes, reinforcing the promise of a major payday.

Across the top, the bold white headline reads:

“Target the $30 million score—a full-throttle rush of brains and thrills!”

A second line runs vertically through the centre:

「最後に笑うヤツは誰だ。」
“Who will have the last laugh?”

The enormous “THE SCORE” title spans the lower section in red-and-gold lettering, with the Japanese 「スコア」 beneath in distressed white type. The stars’ names, production credits and Japanese distributor details complete this striking early-2000s crime-thriller design.
