"Rapture", Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1965, STB Size (51x145cm) M73

This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1966 for the first release of Rapture.

This almost 5′ tall STB poster features fantastic artwork. The tatekan STB format had much lower print numbers compared to regular Japanese B2s. They are very rare, especially for more popular film titles, and are highly sought after by collectors today.

Rapture is a 1965 French-American psychological drama directed by John Guillermin and starring Patricia Gozzi, Dean Stockwell, and Melvyn Douglas. Set in a remote coastal region of Brittany, the film follows Agnes, an emotionally fragile teenage girl living with her authoritarian father and stern housekeeper. Her isolated world is shattered when an escaped convict enters their lives, and she becomes entangled in a complex and ultimately tragic relationship.

Celebrated for its moody atmosphere, lyrical cinematography, and haunting performance by Patricia Gozzi (Sundays and Cybele), Rapture explores themes of innocence, repression, and madness. Though little-known upon release, the film has gained recognition over time as a lost gem of 1960s arthouse cinema.
