“Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me”, Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1992, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) ZA1139
This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1992 for the first Japanese release of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, directed by David Lynch and starring Sheryl Lee, Ray Wise, Mädchen Amick, Dana Ashbrook, Phoebe Augustine, David Bowie, and Kiefer Sutherland.
Film background
Released in 1992, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me is Lynch’s haunting cinematic return to the world of Twin Peaks, focusing on the final days of Laura Palmer. Rather than simply extending the television series, the film deepens and darkens it, shifting the emphasis toward psychological collapse, dread, and the surreal emotional violence that lies beneath the town’s surface. Over time it has come to be recognised not only as an essential part of the Twin Peaks mythology, but as one of Lynch’s most powerful and disturbing films.
For collectors, original Japanese first-release paper for the film is especially appealing because it belongs to the period when Twin Peaks had already become an international cultural phenomenon, yet the film itself still retained the unsettling mystery and divisiveness that later helped define its cult status.
Poster design
This is a striking and highly atmospheric Japanese design. Against a deep black field, the small image of Laura Palmer’s face at the top appears cold and ghostly, while below, a close-up of hands and a sharp point evokes violence, ritual, and unease. The large red Japanese title cuts dramatically across the centre, giving the composition tremendous impact without sacrificing its sense of restraint.
What makes the poster especially effective is its simplicity. Rather than relying on montage or overt narrative explanation, it captures the film’s mood of menace, secrecy, and doomed beauty. It feels unmistakably Lynchian: elegant, minimal, and deeply unsettling. As a display piece, it is superb.
