“Flic Story” / “Three Days of the Condor”, Rare Original Japanese B3 Nakazuri Double-Bill Poster, 1975 — ZA1145

A rare original Japanese B3 nakazuri double-bill poster bringing together two outstanding thrillers of 1975: Flic Story (フリック・ストーリー) and Three Days of the Condor (コンドル). This edition advertises their engagement at Shizuoka’s Yūrakuza cinema, with striking artwork featuring Alain Delon, Jean-Louis Trintignant, Robert Redford and Faye Dunaway.

The bold theatre banner announces “’76 New Year — Roadshow from December 20”, placing the advertised opening in December 1975 for the forthcoming holiday season. Both films had received their initial Japanese releases on 29 November 1975.

The horizontal nakazuri format is associated with hanging advertisements inside Japanese public transport. Here, the compact proportions accommodate two complete film campaigns, while the prominent cinema name gives the poster a specific connection to local exhibition history.

The left panel promotes Jacques Deray’s Flic Story, starring Delon as a detective pursuing the criminal played by Trintignant. Delon’s cigarette-bearing portrait dominates the composition, with Trintignant behind him and smaller scenes of armed confrontation below. Oversized red Japanese lettering gives the panel its forceful graphic character.

On the right, Sidney Pollack’s Three Days of the Condor pairs close portraits of Redford and Dunaway with an elaborate montage of urban pursuit and espionage. Monumental Japanese title lettering rises above running figures, gunmen and New York imagery, with Max von Sydow pictured at the lower right.

A blue TOWA diamond crowns the central dividing strip, where the Japanese promotional line celebrates the two films’ impressive star lineups. The contrasting palettes and substantial theatre banner make this an especially appealing piece for collectors of 1970s thrillers and Japanese cinema advertising.

Condition: Excellent. A central fold is present, together with light handling creases, surface rippling and a few small marks on the reverse. The printed colours remain strong, giving the poster excellent display appeal. Please review the photographs, which show the exact item offered.
