“Urusei Yatsura” (うる星やつら), Original Release Japanese Promotional Poster 1982, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) P177
This is an original Japanese B2 promotional poster printed in 1982 for the first cinema release in the Urusei Yatsura (うる星やつら) film series—based on Rumiko Takahashi’s legendary manga and one of the defining pop-cultural anime properties of the early 1980s. Bright, playful, and unmistakably period, this is classic Shōwa-era anime paper.
Film background
By the early 1980s, Urusei Yatsura had become a phenomenon—mixing sci-fi comedy, romance chaos, and teen absurdity around the iconic alien heroine Lum and her endlessly unfortunate human love interest. The theatrical films expanded the world beyond the TV series with higher production values and collectible poster campaigns that remain favourites among anime collectors today.
Poster design
A wonderfully charming, fashion-forward character composition: Lum takes centre stage in an aerobics-style outfit—headband, fishnets, and leg warmers—posed against a geometric grid that evokes early ’80s pop design. Around her, the supporting cast float in playful vignettes, giving the sheet a lively “ensemble” feel while keeping the overall palette soft and pastel. It’s an exceptionally displayable B2—pure 1982 Japanese anime aesthetics with irresistible wall presence.
