“Warlock” (ワーロック), Original First Release Japanese B2 Poster 1959, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) O625

Sale price $300.00

This is an original Japanese B2 poster issued in Japan for Warlock (1959), Edward Dmytryk’s brooding, adult Western starring Richard Widmark, Henry Fonda, Anthony Quinn, Dorothy Malone and Dolores Michaels—a psychologically charged, morally ambiguous entry from the late-1950s cycle of “darker” Westerns. The film opened theatrically in Japan on 1 July 1959 (20th Century-Fox release).

Notably, this example is a theatre-used poster—extremely scarce in any condition, and the kind of surviving paper that typically shows hard fold wear, tears, pin-holes, and heavy handling from actual display.

Poster design
An exceptionally graphic, concept-forward composition: a ring of revolvers forms a near-perfect emblem, with character portraits embedded inside the negative space like a rotating chamber of fate. The oversized Japanese title ワーロック is rendered in bold, dimensional red type, supported by clean white space and sharp, modern mid-century balance. At the base, the poster sells the widescreen prestige with “CINEMASCOPE” and “総天然色” (full colour), alongside the 20th Century-Fox mark—positioning the film as high-end Western spectacle rather than Saturday-matinee pulp.

Condition
Good overall. Theatre-used with general age/handling wear, and minor surface marks/toning visible in the photos (including the reverse). Despite this honest use, the sheet retains strong colour and a striking display presence. Please review the photos—they show the exact poster for sale.
