This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1962 for the Japanese re-release of Ingmar Bergman’s masterpiece Wild Strawberries (Smultronstället / 野いちご), distributed in Japan by Tōwa (東和) (as shown by the TOWA mark on the sheet).

One of the defining films of European art cinema, Wild Strawberries follows an ageing professor on a road trip as memories, regrets, and dream-visions surface—an extraordinarily moving meditation on time, reconciliation, and the fragile grace of human connection.

Poster design
A beautifully modernist Japanese layout with bold negative space: the upper field is anchored by the Swedish title SMULTRONSTÄLLET over a green-tinted memory image, contrasted against a stark white expanse. The lower-right features a striking monochrome figure montage, with the large red brush-style Japanese title 野いちご dominating the bottom. The mid-band copy proudly names Ingmar Bergman and highlights major festival honours, giving the sheet a classic early-1960s Japanese “prestige reissue” feel. Exceptionally frameable.
