Original Japanese Godzilla, Kaiju & Tokusatsu Movie Posters

Explore Japan Poster Shop’s extensive collection of original Japanese Godzilla, kaiju and tokusatsu movie posters, encompassing more than seven decades of Japanese monster cinema, science fiction and special-effects entertainment.

Our collection includes exceptionally rare original theatrical posters from Godzilla (1954), Ishirō Honda’s landmark masterpiece that introduced one of cinema’s most enduring icons, and its historic sequel, Godzilla Raids Again (1955). These early Japanese releases represent some of the most significant and sought-after pieces of kaiju cinema memorabilia, with surviving first-release posters, particularly in rare formats, becoming increasingly difficult to acquire.

From the original Showa-era Godzilla films (1954–1975) through the Heisei (1984–1995) and Millennium (1999–2004) series to modern productions including Shin Godzilla (2016) and Godzilla Minus One (2023), our collection celebrates the extraordinary visual history of Japan’s most famous cinematic monster.

Beyond Godzilla, we offer an extensive selection of original Japanese posters featuring Mothra, Rodan, King Ghidorah, Mechagodzilla, Gamera and other legendary kaiju, alongside classic tokusatsu television and cinema, including Ultraman, Ultraseven, Mirrorman and related Japanese special-effects productions.

Of particular significance is the remarkable variety of original formats represented in our collection, including Japanese B2 and B1 theatrical posters, rare STB Tatekan posters, large-format B0 billboards, advance promotional designs and other exceptionally scarce advertising material. Our holdings range from historically important first-release examples to unusual variants and seldom-seen promotional formats, many of which are highly prized by international collectors.

Japanese kaiju posters are celebrated for their dramatic compositions, vivid colours, extraordinary monster illustrations and distinctive typography. Early theatrical examples, especially those associated with the original 1950s productions, occupy an important place in the history of Japanese cinema and graphic design.

Every poster offered by Japan Poster Shop is an authentic original, carefully sourced in Japan and individually catalogued. We do not sell reproductions. All posters are accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, with worldwide DHL Express shipping available from our gallery in Tokyo.
