This is an original Japanese poster from the FIRST release of Rear Window in 1954. This is our final copy in stock and we doubt that another will surface for a very long time.

It is the first time we have seen this poster in Japan and believe that it has not sold in any of the major western auctions. This poster was purchased along with a wider collection including many Audrey Hepburn, Alfred Hitchcock, Disney and Hammer Horror posters from the 1950`s (we know Hammer and Disney makes for an interesting combination!) - not only did this collector have seriously good taste, most if not all of his almost 70 year old posters are in an incredible near mint condition.

Rear Window is one of Hitchcock`s finest thrillers, James Stewart plays a wheelchair-bound photographer who spies on his neighbors from his apartment window, and then becomes convinced that one of them (Raymond Burr) has committed murder. He enlists the help of his society model girlfriend (Grace Kelly). This splendid one sheet replicates the tableau of the film itself, peering into the various windows of the apartment complex. The entire movie was shot on one set, the largest indoor set ever built at Paramount studios at the time. The film was nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Director and Best Screenplay.

This poster is in a very excellent condition. with only a small tear left from the removal of a pinhole, or hard folds. The colors are very bright and have not faded. Please refer to the imagery (both front and back) as this is the exact poster that is for sale.

It is 67 years old!

It is not a reproduction or a reprint.

Certificate of Authenticity included.
