This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1986 for the first Japanese release of Fist of the North Star (北斗の拳), the animated feature film adaptation of the landmark manga by Buronson and Tetsuo Hara. Produced by Toei Animation, the film was directed by Toyoo Ashida and features key voice performances by Akira Kamiya as Kenshiro, Kenji Utsumi as Raoh, and Yuriko Yamamoto as Yuria.

Film background
Released in 1986, Fist of the North Star brought one of the defining action manga and anime properties of the 1980s to the cinema. Set in a post-apocalyptic world ruled by violence, the story follows Kenshiro, master of the deadly martial art Hokuto Shinken, as he confronts rival warriors and tyrants in search of Yuria. With its muscular character design, operatic violence, and stark wasteland mythology, the series became one of the most influential Japanese action franchises of the decade.

Poster design
A powerful and highly graphic Japanese theatrical design, dominated by Kenshiro in combat stance beneath the immense red figure of Raoh, whose presence fills the background like a monumental apparition. The composition is especially striking for its heavy use of crimson and black, giving the poster a severe, apocalyptic atmosphere entirely suited to the film’s world. Along the left side, smaller inset action panels highlight key fighting techniques and scenes, while the large fractured title typography across the lower section gives the design strong 1980s anime impact. This is a superb period example of Toei’s theatrical anime promotion, combining manga-style violence, cinematic scale, and bold Japanese title treatment.
