"Rio Grande" (リオ・グランデ), Original Japanese Re-Release Movie Poster 1963, Very Rare STB Tatekan (51 × 145 cm) ZA370

This is an original Japanese STB tatekan poster printed in 1963 for John Ford’s cavalry epic Rio Grande (1950), starring John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara. Issued by Japan Herald for the early-’60s revival, this tall, two-sheet vertical format was displayed outside theaters and survives far less often than standard B2s—genuinely scarce.

Design
Classic Ford/Wayne grandeur in towering portraiture: Wayne’s resolute close-up crowns the top, his yellow cavalry scarf cutting against the desert sky. A sweeping cavalry charge thunders across the sands, while a full-figure vignette of Wayne with O’Hara anchors the lower field. The massive red vertical title runs down the right margin, with turquoise kana credits climbing the left—an unmistakably Japanese tatekan layout that amplifies scale and motion.
