This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1988 for the theatrical debut of director Jûzô Itami’s sequel A Taxing Woman’s Return—the satirical crime-comedy that brought super-sleuth tax inspector Ryōko Itakura (Nobuko Miyamoto) back to hunt a cash-hoarding yakuza clan.
The striking minimalist design features a bold calligraphic portrait of Ryōko—oversized sunglasses, crimson lips, and a splash of red necktie—painted by graphic artist Katsu ’87. Towering red type announces the title while an enormous numeral “2” trumpets the follow-up to Itami’s award-winning original (Marusa no Onna, 1987).
It is over 35 years old!
