“Aido (愛奴) – Slave of Love” STB, Original Release Japanese Poster 1969, STB Tatekan Size (c. 51 × 145 cm) Q258

Sale price $175.00

This is an original Japanese STB (tatekan-style two-panel) poster printed in 1969 to promote Aido (愛奴 / あいど, “Slave of Love”), directed by Susumu Hani. The pink-on-blue tagline at top reads: 「私は愛の奴隷… 私は男の歓び… 私は与える…」 — “I am a slave to love… I am a man’s pleasure… I give…” Beneath it, the copy boasts: 「『初恋・地獄篇』を凌いで性の極致を衝く」 — “Surpassing Nanami: The Inferno of First Love, it strikes at the extreme limits of sexuality.” Hani, a leading figure of the Japanese New Wave, followed his breakthrough Nanami (1968) with this daring portrait of desire; Aido was entered into the 19th Berlin International Film Festival.

Key credits and notes:

 • Director: Susumu Hani (羽仁進) — celebrated New Wave icon whose earlier Nanami: The Inferno of First Love (1968) gained international attention.

 • Story by Isamu Kurita (栗田勇); screenplay by Kurita and Hani.

 • Starring Yuri Suemasa (末政百合) with Kenzō Kawarazaki, Rumiko Tanuma, Kenzaburō Shirai, Jusaburō Tsujimura, and others.

 • Cinematography: Yūji Okumura (奥村祐治).

 • Produced by Hani Productions; distributed by Shochiku (noted at foot of the poster). Film release: 1969.

The poster features a striking full-length vertical layout: neon-contour profiles of two faces about to kiss glow across a deep blue field at the top; the hand-brushed title 愛奴 floats over a saturated gradient that shifts from magenta into orange; a silhouetted nude female figure dominates the center, while a young man, rendered in soft photographic tones, crawls at her feet — an image that distills the film’s themes of erotic domination and obsession.

This particular poster is a large-format STB (tatekan) — approximately twice the height of a standard B2 — and was typically displayed at cinema entrances. STB posters were printed in limited numbers and survive in small quantities, making them highly collectible.

This poster is in very good / excellent condition. Please refer to the imagery (both front and back) as this is the exact poster that is for sale.
