"Mayday: 40,000 Feet!" (メイデイ40,000フィート), Original First-Release Japanese Movie Poster 1976, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) N15
This is an original Japanese poster printed in 1976 for the first theatrical release of Mayday: 40,000 Feet! in Japan.
Directed by Robert Butler, this high-altitude suspense drama originally aired as a made-for-TV movie on CBS, but was released theatrically in several international markets including Japan. The film stars David Janssen as a U.S. Air Force pilot forced to step in after a commercial jetliner’s flight crew is incapacitated during a transcontinental flight.
Supporting cast includes Christopher George, Don Meredith, Ray Milland, Broderick Crawford, and Marsha Hunt. The ensemble performance, combined with its ticking-clock structure, made it one of the more memorable TV-airport thrillers of the 1970s.
The Japanese poster features bold aerial artwork: a massive jetliner screaming across a swirling stratosphere, with impact stills showing cockpit tension and onboard drama. The Japanese tagline at top reads:
SOS! SOS! 巨大な危機を衝いて 高度1万2千メートルを602便は飛ぶ!
“SOS! SOS! Facing massive danger, Flight 602 flies at 12,000 meters!”
It is over 48 years old!
