“Alien” (エイリアン), Original Japanese Theatrical Poster 1979, B2 Size (51 × 73 cm) J101
This is an original Japanese B2 theatrical poster printed in 1979 for the first Japanese release of Alien. A genuine cinema display sheet produced for theatres in Japan.
Film background
Ridley Scott’s sci-fi horror landmark follows the crew of the Nostromo—Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) among them—as a rescue detour spirals into a survival nightmare. H.R. Giger’s biomechanical creature design and Jerry Goldsmith’s score helped redefine the genre.
Poster design
A vast star field dominates the sheet, capped by the chilling Japanese tagline in blood-red type: 「宇宙では、あなたの悲鳴は誰にも聞こえない。」 (“In space, no one can hear your scream.”). Below, portraits of the crew line the horizon over a crescent-lit planet, with the urgent crawl 「警告/エイリアンに接近!」 at right. The massive scarlet title 「エイリアン」 and “ALIEN” badge anchor the base with 70mm/Dolby marks—minimal, ominous, and superb for display.
It is over 45 years old!
