“Alien” (エイリアン), Original Release Japanese Movie Poster 1979 — Extremely Rare Billboard B0, 120 × 145 cm
This is an original, rolled Japanese B0 billboard poster printed in 1979 for the first Japanese release of Alien—Ridley Scott’s genre-defining fusion of science-fiction and horror starring Sigourney Weaver, Tom Skerritt, Veronica Cartwright, Harry Dean Stanton, John Hurt, Ian Holm, and Yaphet Kotto.
Film background
A deep-space distress call leads the crew of the Nostromo into the fossilized derelict and the nightmare of the xenomorph. H.R. Giger’s biomechanical designs, Jerry Goldsmith’s score, and Scott’s slow-burn suspense reshaped late-’70s cinema and launched Ripley as an enduring screen icon—Alien became a touchstone for both sci-fi world-building and creature effects.
Poster design
This massive B0 is a dramatic montage sheet: cyan-keylined stills showcase the Space Jockey, the derelict entrance, hypersleep bay, cockpit, and Ripley’s final standoff. The starfield center carries the warning copy 「警告!エイリアンに接近。」 with the bold red katakana title 「エイリアン」 over the English ALIEN. Headline banners read 「無限の宇宙で起こる無限の恐怖!」 and 「今世紀最大の超宇宙サスペンス!」. Studio details and format badges (including 70MM and DOLBY STEREO) are printed along the base, with the authentic 映倫 seal at lower right—classic country-campaign styling on a billboard scale.
It is over 46 years old.
This poster is in very good condition for its size and age: rolled (never folded) with expected edge wear, light creasing and minor nicks; colors remain strong and the piece will present brilliantly when framed. Please review the photos (front and back) of the exact poster for sale.
